This project was performed at the Environmental Protection Agency NAREL at Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama under an IDIQ valued at $20M over a 5 year period.  The project consisted of a new 9,000 sf addition and renovation of over 37,000 sf of renovated laboratory and office space. The major challenges of this project was the coordination of maintaining the existing facility completely operational while undergoing the renovation and new construction. Elements of the project consisted of a new addition with a tornado shelter with 12” concrete walls to meet class 4 tornados, complete removal and replacement of the entire HVAC and mechanical system, renovation of existing labs, new testing labs with hoods, and the tie-in of three existing buildings as one facility.  This project was a joint venture, with Rolin Construction as lead contractor.
